Start with a 60–90 second leadership story

Summarize the markets, teams, customers, and revenue motions you have led. Then connect those facts to the employer’s immediate priorities.

Example: “I lead enterprise revenue teams by combining disciplined pipeline management with coaching and cross-functional execution. In my most relevant role…”

How do you build a sales strategy?

Explain how you segment the market, define an ideal customer, choose channels, set coverage, create qualification standards, and translate the plan into weekly operating rhythms.

  • Name the inputs you study.
  • Explain how you prioritize.
  • Describe how you measure progress.
  • Give a supported example and result.

How do you coach and manage performance?

Describe expectations, observation, feedback, enablement, and accountability. Strong answers distinguish a skill gap from a process, territory, product, or motivation problem.

How do you forecast accurately?

Discuss stage definitions, exit criteria, deal inspection, historical conversion, buyer engagement, next steps, and forecast categories. Avoid presenting forecasting as intuition alone.

Prepare your questions for the employer

  • What revenue outcomes matter most in the first two quarters?
  • Where does the current funnel lose momentum?
  • How are sales, marketing, product, and customer success aligned?
  • What would make the new director unmistakably successful after 90 days?
